Most of your future customers are searching for somewhere to eat near them, right now, on their phone. Local SEO is how you make sure they find you — and, ideally, order direct rather than through a commission-charging app. It isn't dark arts; it's a handful of fundamentals done consistently. Here's the playbook.

To rank locally: nail your Google Business Profile, keep your name, address and phone identical everywhere, earn reviews, and run a fast, mobile-friendly website with clear location and menu pages. Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence — you can influence all three. Then make ordering direct the easiest next step.

How Google decides local rankings

Google says local results are based on three things: relevance (how well you match the search), distance (how near you are to the searcher), and prominence (how well-known and well-reviewed you are). You can't move your restaurant, but you can strongly influence relevance and prominence — which is where the work pays off.

The foundations

  • Google Business Profile. The single biggest lever — claim it, complete it, keep it active. (Full guide: Google Business Profile for restaurants.)
  • Consistent NAP. Your Name, Address and Phone must be identical on your site, Google, social and any directories. Inconsistencies confuse Google and customers.
  • Reviews. Volume, rating and recency all feed prominence. Ask, and always reply.

Your website still matters

Your own site is what you fully control, and it backs up your profile:

  • Fast and mobile-first. Local searches are overwhelmingly on phones; a slow site loses them before it loads.
  • Clear location and hours on every page, with an embedded map.
  • A real menu page (as text, not just a PDF or image) so Google can read it.
  • Structured data for your restaurant and menu helps search engines understand you.

Turn rankings into direct orders

Ranking is only half the job — the other half is converting that visibility into orders you keep. Make "order direct" the obvious next tap from your profile and site, not a buried link. Every customer Google sends who orders on your own commission-free page instead of an app is pure margin (and a customer you now own).

How VoiceMenu helps

VoiceMenu gives you a fast, branded ordering site with proper menu pages and structured data, plus the commission-free ordering link to put front and centre on your Google profile — so local visibility turns into direct revenue. See what that's worth or explore the restaurant plans.
